I'm going to buy it..

Q:

I'm glad that educational sweets such as Neru Neru Neru are available at the store

A:

Educational sweets such as Neru-Neru-Neru are not available at the university co-op.
We apologize for this.
If they are proposed as planned products in the future,
we will consider selling them.

I never thought I'd see such blatant xenophobia on campus..

Q:

Just after 1:00 PM today, a man who appeared to be quite elderly accosted some Chinese international students who were chatting and eating in the Komaba Cafeteria on the first floor, telling them, "You're in the way! This is Japan! Speak Japanese!" It did
n't seem like the students were talking loudly or causing any inconvenience to those around them. While it's impossible to tell by appearance, I suspect the elderly person was probably from outside the university. I was shocked to see such blatant xenophobia on campus. I think it's a
good thing that the Co-op's facilities are open to a wide range of people, not just those on campus. However, I think it's precisely for this reason that the Co-op should make it clear that, as a space that makes up the university (and one that is extremely important for providing food), it should be a place that can be used safely regardless of nationality, ethnicity, or gender, and that this kind of hatred will not be tolerated, and I hope that the Co-op can also make this clear to users in the cafeteria.

A:

As you mentioned, the University of Tokyo itself is an open university that is used not only by students and faculty but also by local residents and tourists, and the Co-op facilities are used by a variety of people. We would like to convey that it is a place that everyone can use with peace of mind, which is also the Co-op's wish

I feel like it's often used by foreign tourists..

Q:

Recently, I've noticed that foreign tourists are using the store a lot, regardless of the day or time of day. While there's nothing wrong with using it, the following problems have arisen, and I'd like some kind of solution to be considered.
1. There are signs posted in English and Chinese stating that the store is closed to outsiders between 11:30 and 1:00 PM on weekdays, but I see foreign tourists using the store almost every day without a care. I'd like more effective measures to be taken against this.
2. Foreign tourists often take a long time to pay, which causes people behind them to have to wait, so I'd like to see cash registers set up specifically for Co-op Money. (Note that electronic money alone is not a solution, as it also includes credit cards and transportation IC cards.)

Thank you for your continued efforts in running the cafeteria. While the Central Cafeteria also plays a role as a tourist destination, we would appreciate it if you would take seriously any incidents that impair the convenience of students, faculty, and staff who use the cafeteria on a daily basis. Thank you in advance

A:

- Regarding comment 1, we apologize for any inconvenience caused. The Co-op is taking this situation seriously and is considering what measures we can take.
- Regarding comment 2, we operate up to two cash registers dedicated to Co-op Money during busy times. Due to a lack of staff, there are days when only one dedicated cash register is available, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. We will increase the operation of cash registers dedicated to Co-op Money as much as possible.

Pay for JR train tickets with the Co-op's base money..

Q:

It would be great if you could make it possible to pay for JR tickets at the Travel Centers (Komaba and Hongo) using the Co-op's base money

A:

Currently, cashless payments for products handled at the Travel Center are limited to credit cards.
This is because refunds due to cancellations are commonplace for Travel Center products.
When a refund occurs, the payment is made using the same settlement method as the payment method.
Therefore, if a payment made using base currency is canceled, the payment must be returned to base currency. However, this would be
difficult to handle from a system perspective, such as settling the difference after deducting cancellation and refund fees, and would be cumbersome from an operational standpoint for the store.
Another problem is that JR tickets can be refunded at the Midori ticket counters in town as vouchers.
(We allow credit card ticket refunds because a system has been established that limits refunds for tickets paid for by credit card to the store of purchase.)

We will consider accepting this option if we observe future trends in usage and if there are any developments that simplify system operations.

I would like them to develop salt-free menu items..

Q:

Thank you for always providing delicious meals.
I have high blood pressure and am strictly limiting my salt intake. I would like you to develop salt-free menu items, similar to halal and vegan menu items (and make it clear that they are salt-free). If those who need sauce or other seasonings could add them later, I think the menu would be more palatable for everyone.

A:

At the moment, we do not have any salt-free ingredients, so unfortunately we are unable to accommodate your request

I like spicy miso pork bowl..

Q:

I like the spicy miso pork bowl, so I'd like it to be served more frequently (perhaps as a permanent menu item?). I also like the chicken kara nanban bowl, which is served at the same time, but since they serve them at the same time, I'm sad that I don't get many opportunities to eat either one, so I'd be happy if they served them at different times

A:

At Chuo Shokudo, we are trying to expand the variety of our menu as much as possible by considering how to include fried and stir-fried dishes in our rice bowls every week. As a result, these two dishes are often served at the same time. We are considering increasing the number of spicy miso pork bowls and rotating them with chicken and nanban bowls. We will continue to strive to provide menus that please our customers

Visitors are not allowed during the busy lunch hours, but..

Q:

Visitors are not allowed during the busy lunch hours, but the park is clearly overflowing with visitors, so I would like the restrictions to be strengthened

A:

We will strive to make the cafeteria more user-friendly by enforcing the rule that it is not open to non-students between 11:30 and 13:30

I'd like some grated daikon radish, even if it's sold separately..

Q:

For salt-grilled fish, I would like some grated daikon radish, even if it's sold separately

A:

We will consider adding grated daikon radish separately

Mini salad on the cafeteria menu..

Q:

I would like to see a mini salad (salad with only cabbage and corn) on the cafeteria menu. Due to dietary restrictions, I always end up throwing away the wakame seaweed and macaroni...
I've seen this at other cafeterias, so I would be grateful if you could consider it.

A:

Thank you for your feedback.
We will consider serving cabbage corn.

Minced meat rice bowl with pickled mustard greens and cucumber..

Q:

I'd like some pickled mustard greens or cucumber with my minced meat rice bowl!

A:

The two-color bowl is a shared menu item at the Co-op Cafeteria. The calorie and allergen information is different, so we cannot provide pickles exclusively at the University of Tokyo. Thank you for your understanding. We will take your comments into consideration when creating future menus
