A summary of the live kitchen menu for the week..

Q:

I think the Central Dining Hall's live kitchen menu is tweeted at 9am on the day, but it would be even better if we could know in advance. For example, wouldn't it be possible for them to tweet the live kitchen menu for the week all at once on Monday morning?

A:

Thank you for your valuable feedback. Yesterday, we tweeted this week's live kitchen menu schedule. We will be tweeting similar information starting next Monday.
If you have any questions or concerns, please use this inquiry form. Thank you.

Change to low-carb noodles..

Q:

Could you please consider changing the Chinese noodles to low-carb noodles?
I've been using this restaurant for about 20 years, but
I was advised to limit my carbohydrate intake during a health check.
Recently, the tanmen ramen has been revived, so I've been using it, but is there anything I can do?
Most of the customers are students, but faculty and staff over 60 will be using it.
I would appreciate your consideration.

A:

Regarding your request for "low-carb noodles," the ingredients that the Co-op can use are not available, so we have to select the ingredients ourselves. Also, there are issues with serving them as a choice between regular noodles and low-carb noodles, such as it being difficult to distinguish at the register. Therefore, we apologize in advance for the time it will take to respond to your request right away.
We will notify all members once we have a plan for when we can actually provide them.

Why does it close at 7pm?

Q:

Why does it close at 7pm? Hongo is open until 9pm. Because it closes at 7pm, you have to eat dinner by 7pm, which means you have to eat lunch around noon or 1pm, which means you have to go in a crowded place. If it's open until 9pm,
you can stagger your dinner and lunch and aim for a less crowded time. Since
Hongo is open until 9pm, there's no reason why Komaba should close at 7pm to prevent the spread of infection.

A:

Until last year, Komaba Cafeteria was open on a reduced scale, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. However, as in-person classes resume, we will gradually resume operations, and we are currently extending our hours to 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The reason for extending our hours to 7:00 PM is not to prevent the spread of infection, but rather to accommodate the gradual reopening of operations, utilization, and staffing levels.
We sincerely apologize for not being able to accommodate your requested hours.
We will be open from 10:00 AM, so if possible, we would appreciate it if you could consider dining earlier. We will continue to consider this from time to time, taking into account future requests, utilization, income and expenditure, and the feasibility of our operations.

More fish dishes..

Q:

I would like to see more a la carte fish dishes.
As for the set meals, the fish is delicious, but the side dishes are a bit lacking...

A:

We have received many comments regarding our "fish" menu. With the reopening of the "Set Meal Corner" on April 1, 2022, we have created a menu based on three concepts: "brown rice," "fish," and "affordable."
This time, we are also aiming to differentiate between the corners, and we have decided to create a menu that is exclusively available at the "Set Meal Corner," with the primary goal of "dispersing lines during busy times." Therefore, we are not currently considering offering the main ingredients served at the "Set Meal Corner"
as individual items. However, approximately one month has passed since the reopening of the corner, and we are currently conducting a survey to gather members' reactions and opinions and use them to create our menu. We would like to hear your specific opinions about the side dishes, such as requests for alternative side dishes, in the survey. (The survey form and collection box are located at the one-line card entry desk.)

Even if you eat your lunch in the cafeteria..

Q:

I bring my lunch to school. My friend eats at the school cafeteria, but I'd like to eat with him. Can I eat my lunch in the cafeteria?

A:

There is no problem as long as you avoid peak hours (12:00-12:30).
With the new semester upon us, we are seeing many more people using the cafeteria than last year. The 12:00-12:30 time slot is particularly busy, and while we have thinned out the seating (currently about 270 seats) as a preventative measure, the number of people using the cafeteria is roughly the same as the same time slot in 2019 (pre-COVID-19), at 500-550 people. Therefore, this time slot will be reserved for those using the Central Cafeteria's products.
If you are using the cafeteria between 12:00-12:30, we would appreciate it if you would purchase miso soup or a small side dish, even if it's just for that purpose.

I'm tired of only having mackerel as a fish dish..

Q:

I have high levels of bad cholesterol, so I try to eat fish, but I get bored of the only fish dishes available, which are mackerel. I think there are plenty of fried dishes, but as I'm health-conscious, I'd like to see more grilled fish, such as salmon

A:

From April 1st, we have resumed business at the set meal corner (11:00-14:00, limited to 70 meals), and are currently offering the "Germinated Brown Rice Set Meal." The main dish of the set meal is fish, with dishes such as "Simmered Mackerel in Miso," "Simmered Red Fish," and "Deep-fried Flatfish" available on a daily basis. Please try this to start with.
We will continue to develop new ingredients in order to increase the variety of fish we offer, so we appreciate your patience for a little while longer.

I wish they would open from 10:30..

Q:

I would like the school to open at 10:30 so that people can eat after the first period. I think this would ease the crowds at lunchtime a little

A:

Currently, the Co-op Cafeteria is open from 11:00 to 21:00, but the specialty store corner "BriocheDoree" is open for breakfast from 8:00 to 11:00.
Two types of breakfast sets are available, and regular items are also available for purchase as soon as they are baked. We hope you will visit the specialty store corner "BriocheDoree."

About the online book inventory search and ordering system..

Q:

I have a question about the online book inventory search and ordering system.
While I think it's generally very convenient, it seems like the contents of your cart disappear when you log out. I think it would be easier to use if it had features like a "wish list" or "saving the contents of your cart."
If possible, I'd appreciate your consideration.

A:

As you pointed out, if you log out, the contents of your cart that have not yet been ordered will not be saved. We will consider implementing features such as wish lists and saving cart contents in the future. If we are able to implement the features, we will announce the results of our consideration as new features on the system, and if we are unable to implement them, we will announce this in the usage notes

The wall on the left as soon as you enter the hallway is too dirty

Q:

The wall on the left side of the hallway leading into the Central Cafeteria from the Co-op store side is extremely dirty, which raises concerns about hygiene. I think it's mold or mud. I strongly request that it be cleaned

A:

Thank you for pointing this out. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused

The stains on the wall you mentioned are mainly mold. We have tried cleaning it with mold remover many times, but it has had little effect because it is a concrete wall. Mold remover for concrete is too strong and there is a risk of discoloring the wall itself, so we have not been able to carry out the cleaning and the situation has remained as it is. We have shared this issue with the university facilities and will continue to work towards improving the situation

I love the brown rice omelet rice on the second floor..

I love the brown rice omelet rice on the second floor, and before COVID-19, I ate it all the time. I was so happy to see it back around the New Year holidays

I am currently a fourth-year student and will soon be graduating, so if possible, I would like to eat it again before I graduate. Could you please consider bringing it back within the school year? Thank you very much

A:

Thank you for posting this

Also, thank you for using our brown rice omelet rice, which was back for about a month and a half from the end of November to January 7th

During January, we will be temporarily closed to serve omelet rice for the Toro-ri Fair and to bring back brown rice katsudon

We will make arrangements so that it can be revived for a limited time sometime between February and March. (Probably March...)

Once the date has been decided, we will announce it on Twitter etc., so please check it out
