I want a small bowl of salty food..

In collaboration with Ootoya..

I never thought I'd see such blatant xenophobia on campus..

Q:

Just after 1:00 PM today, a man who appeared to be quite elderly accosted some Chinese international students who were chatting and eating in the Komaba Cafeteria on the first floor, telling them, "You're in the way! This is Japan! Speak Japanese!" It did
n't seem like the students were talking loudly or causing any inconvenience to those around them. While it's impossible to tell by appearance, I suspect the elderly person was probably from outside the university. I was shocked to see such blatant xenophobia on campus. I think it's a
good thing that the Co-op's facilities are open to a wide range of people, not just those on campus. However, I think it's precisely for this reason that the Co-op should make it clear that, as a space that makes up the university (and one that is extremely important for providing food), it should be a place that can be used safely regardless of nationality, ethnicity, or gender, and that this kind of hatred will not be tolerated, and I hope that the Co-op can also make this clear to users in the cafeteria.

A:

As you mentioned, the University of Tokyo itself is an open university that is used not only by students and faculty but also by local residents and tourists, and the Co-op facilities are used by a variety of people. We would like to convey that it is a place that everyone can use with peace of mind, which is also the Co-op's wish
