Overview of the University of Tokyo Co-op

Greetings

, Vice Chairman and Acting Chairman of the University of Tokyo Consumer Cooperative
Tatsuhiko Tsukigashi
(Professor, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences)

, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and respect to all those involved who have worked tirelessly to maintain and ensure the continued existence of the University of Tokyo Co-op during the challenging circumstances of the COVID-19 crisis since 2020. Moving forward
, we aim to return to and expand to pre-COVID levels, while simultaneously responding flexibly and appropriately to the changing times, including rapid technological advancements and labor shortages. Together with all of you, we will strive to ensure that everyone feels even more grateful for the University of Tokyo Co-op's existence. We ask for your continued support.

The University of Tokyo is currently working on initiatives such as a new brand mark in preparation for its 150th anniversary in 2027. We hope to harmonize the university's activities with those of the Co-op and make the welfare programs it offers even more attractive

Based on mutual assistance, the cooperative is an "oasis" (place of peace) created by its members. The University of Tokyo Cooperative is a familiar community where people can heal their tired minds and bodies after working, studying, and researching at the University of Tokyo, prepare for tomorrow, and recharge their energy
. To achieve this, it is necessary to continue to be a management organization that can live up to the efforts and expectations of the cooperative staff who support our business activities every day.
In addition, as stated in the founding statement, we must not forget our desire to develop our welfare movement into a social movement that forms a cultural and rational social order.

In the future, the University of Tokyo Co-op and the University of Tokyo are expected to face even greater changes than before. There will be enjoyable moments and new stimuli, but there may also be times when we are required to deal with tension and crises.
Let's move forward together, building a foundation that will lead to hope for our members and Co-op staff, deepening exchanges with our partner organizations, and serving as a source of energy and security for everyone.
