Overview of the University of Tokyo Co-op

Greetings

Genda Yuji
(Institute of Social Science), Chairman of the University of Tokyo Consumers' Cooperative Association

My name is Yuji Genda, and I will be taking up the position of Chairman of the University of Tokyo Consumers' Co-op from 2024.
I look forward to working with you. I am humbled and humbled to have been entrusted with the important responsibility of being Chairman at this milestone of the 75th anniversary of the organization's incorporation.

First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude and respect to all those involved who have worked hard to maintain and survive the University of Tokyo Co-op amid the difficult circumstances of the COVID-19 crisis since 2020. Going
forward, we aim to restore and expand to pre-COVID levels, while at the same time responding flexibly and appropriately to changes in the times, such as rapid technological change and labor shortages. We hope to work together with you to make you feel even more grateful that the University of Tokyo Co-op exists. We appreciate your support.

The University of Tokyo is currently working on initiatives such as a new brand mark in preparation for its 150th anniversary in 2027. We hope to harmonize the university's activities with those of the Co-op and make the welfare programs it offers even more attractive

Co-ops, based on the principle of mutual aid, are an "oasis" created by members. The University of Tokyo Co-op is a familiar community where members can relax and recharge after the stresses of work, study, and research at the University of Tokyo, prepare for tomorrow, and regain their strength.
To achieve this, we must remain a management organization that meets the efforts and expectations of the co-op staff who support our business activities every day.
Furthermore, as stated in our founding prospectus, we must not forget our desire to develop our welfare movement into a social movement that shapes a cultured and rational social order.

Going forward, the University of Tokyo Co-op and the University of Tokyo are expected to face even greater changes than ever before. While there will be exciting and new stimuli, there may also be times when we are required to deal with tensions and crises. Let's
move forward together, building a foundation that connects the hopes of our members and co-op staff, deepening our exchanges with partner organizations, and serving as a source of energy and peace of mind for everyone.
