The University of Tokyo Consumer Co-op (UTC) is a non-profit organization that operates cafeterias and shops on campus and has been commissioned by the University of Tokyo to provide welfare, education, and research support for its members

The University of Tokyo Co-op uses the capital contributions we receive from you to support everyone living on campus with a variety of products and services, and profits are returned to the campus in the form of various activities for the university and its members, and student support

Benefits of joining the Co-op

How to join a consumer cooperative

  • Those joining the University Co-op for the first time
    • Please complete the procedures to join the Co-op (The University of Tokyo Co-op requires 60 memberships for 24,000 yen)

  • Those who are members of a university co-op other than the University of Tokyo
    • Please carry out the following as necessary at the university co-op you were previously a member of
      ○ Withdrawal (return of capital contribution) procedures
      ○ Processing of Co-op money, etc
      *Please check the information provided by your current co-op before proceeding
    • Please join the University of Tokyo Co-op again (we ask for 24,000 yen for 60 memberships)

  • Current students and graduate students of the University of Tokyo who are taking up a new post at the University of Tokyo (those who have already joined the Co-op)
    • Please complete the procedure to change your membership information without completing the procedure to return your investment to the Co-op

Information on the use of public funds (operating expenses and research grants)

The University of Tokyo Co-op takes advantage of its strengths of having a store, products, and staff on campus to provide support for your research activities as a familiar and flexible presence.
