■Background to the Introduction
As previously announced, the operating environment for the University of Tokyo Co-op is becoming increasingly challenging due to rising operating costs and changes in the market environment. In order to continue stable operations in the future, a review of the revenue and expenditure structure is essential.
Furthermore, university co-ops are operated with investments from their members and are organizations that conduct business for the purpose of providing welfare for their members. Taking this purpose into account, and in order to make the value of using the services of a member clearer, the Board of Directors has decided to introduce a "non-member usage fee" at purchasing stores after repeated discussions.

Students, faculty, and staff (and those working at the University of Tokyo) who are not yet members of the Co-op, as well as customers living in the surrounding area, please review the information below and consider joining.

■Applicable Stores
A non-member usage fee (tax included) will be added to the purchase amount at the following stores:
・ Hongo area: First Purchasing Department, Second Purchasing Department, Akamon Store, Faculty of Agriculture Store, Asano Store
・ Komaba area: Komaba Purchasing Department, Komaba West Shop, Komaba Research Store
・ Affiliated Research Institutes: Kashiwa Store, Institute of Medical Science Store

■ Products and transactions not included in the calculation of usage fees
The following products or transactions are not included in the calculation of usage fees for non-members:
・Plastic shopping bags
・Products and services provided only to members (travel/certification exam applications/qualification school applications/hakama/graduation photos/UTokyo merchandise mail order, etc.)
・Products and services sold at fixed price on behalf of universities or external parties (delivery services/bicycle parking/gowns/crime prevention registration/contract tickets, etc.)
・Gift certificates (prepaid gift cards/stamps/revenue stamps/copy cards/book cards, etc.)
・Books (because member discounts are calculated separately)
・Accounts receivable payments through your affiliated educational institution, etc., such as school funds and research funds
