Lecture by Hiromi Tanaka
Lecture theme: "Towards a peaceful future without nuclear weapons - A message to the next generation"
Hiromi Tanaka, a representative of the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations (Nihon Hidankyo) and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, worked at the University of Tokyo Co-op after graduating from high school and before entering university. After entering university, he played a key role in the establishment of the Tokyo University of Science Co-op and served as its first managing director, making him a senior figure in the world of university cooperatives.
As a representative of Nihon Hidankyo, which received the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize, he delivered a powerful call to the world from Oslo, the capital of Norway, last December for the realization of a society without nuclear weapons.
Mr. Tanaka has a deep connection with the University of Tokyo Co-op, and he kindly agreed to give this lecture in order to convey his message to the next generation who will be responsible for the future. We are calling on not only officers and staff of the University of Tokyo Co-op, but also all members to participate, so please do join us
