Let's think about the future of universities and co-ops: Report on the first "The Future of Universities and the University of Tokyo" seminar
This event was held on Monday, November 18th at the Hongo Bookstore, with 24 people attending in person and 30 people participating online. Thank you to everyone who participated
What happened on the day
In the opening session, Professor Emeritus Toshiya Yoshimi of the University of Tokyo shared the essence of his final lecture, which was held in March 2023. This was followed by a dialogue between Professor Emeritus Yoshimi and Yuji Genda, Chairman of the University of Tokyo Co-op.
Topics such as "performance," "authority," "competition," "horizontal expansion," and "sharing doubts" were discussed, making it an event that provided hints for thinking about the future of universities and co-ops.

- It is wonderful that such a culturally significant event can be carried out. I learned a lot.
- Professor Yoshimi's way of speaking was impressive, as it dynamically conveyed the state of thought and movement at the time.
