Komaba and Komaba II:
Komaba West Shop, a 24-hour unmanned store, opens on September 30th!

Greetings from Dean Fumitaka Mafune
ribbon cutting ceremony
At the opening ceremony (September 30th),
Professor Fumitaka Mafune, Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, gave a congratulatory address, and Professor Mafune and Vice Chairman Tatsuhiko Tsukigashi of the University of Tokyo Co-op cut the ribbon, officially opening the Komaba West Shop on the first floor of Buildings 15 and 16 on the Komaba Campus.
The West Shop is the University of Tokyo Co-op's first 24-hour unmanned store, and has now begun operations, partly as an operational experiment.
The Komaba West Shop was opened as a replacement facility after the closure of the bread shop became unavoidable due to seismic retrofitting work on Building 1. Until now, there were no welfare facilities on the west side of the campus, and there has been a need for a facility that can provide food even in the evening and at night, especially in the area where natural science research laboratories are concentrated. Since it is difficult to manage a store with staff, we will try operating it as an unmanned store.
Payment at the Komaba West Shop is only possible with Co-op electronic money. We would like to see this store develop into one that is not just "only accepts Co-op money," but rather a store where customers can use Co-op money 24 hours a day.
