About purchasing and stock on the textbook purchasing website
I haven't received an order confirmation email?
Please try the following methods in order
Solution 1:
Please check whether the email has been sorted into your spam folder.
If so, please adjust your spam filter settings to allow emails from @mail.utcoop.or.jp to be received in the future.
Solution 2:
If the problem persists, log in and open My Page. If your order has been placed, your "Application History" will be displayed. Click "Details" to view the email we sent you.
If it is not displayed in "Application History," your order has not been placed.
Are all the textbooks used in classes sold at the Co-op?
We strive to sell all items that we are aware of,
but there are some items that we are not aware of for reasons explained below.
Why are some textbooks that are listed on the syllabus or assigned in class not listed on the textbook website?
There are several possible reasons:
- It was not included in the syllabus when the Co-op obtained it.
→ The Co-op bases its syllabus information on early March, but it may be updated at a later date. - I didn't receive any contact from the teacher.
→ We have asked students to contact us if they wish to use the textbook, but we are not able to keep a complete grasp of the situation. - In the first place, they are not books or general distribution items.
→ In the case of handouts, etc., some of them are not listed.
The textbook I want to buy is out of stock. Will it be in stock?
Please check the textbook website for product information, which will be updated as soon as we know when the book will be restocked.
We will also indicate if the book is out of stock at the publisher or if there is no prospect of it being restocked.
First of all, why do items sell out?
Don't they know in advance how many people will be taking the class?
It is easy to estimate the number of students who will take required courses, but it is difficult to do so for elective courses.
(The final number of students will be known in late April.)
Why are some books out of stock or out of print even though they are designated textbooks?
There are certain conditions for reprinting books (reprinting and distributing out-of-stock books), and if those conditions are not met, they will not be reprinted.
The co-op will contact the publisher with information such as "Professor X would like to use this as a textbook," and after receiving their response, will inform the publisher that the book is out of stock or out of print.
They may be able to substitute a print copy or recommend a replacement book, so please check at the first class.
The co-op will also contact the teacher in charge as much as possible.
If you absolutely need to obtain the physical book, we ask that you personally search the library's collection or used books.
About receiving textbooks [Komaba]
What are the advantages and disadvantages of in-store pickup and delivery?
In-store pickup
Advantages:
You can receive it when you have business at the university.
There are no fees.
There are more payment methods than home delivery.
Disadvantages:
You have to adjust your visit schedule.
No matter how heavy it is, you have to carry it home.
Delivery
Advantages:
receive books at home without having to carry heavy books.
No need to apply for entry or visit the store.
Disadvantages:
A fee of 990 yen (tax included) is charged per order.
If multiple orders are made, a fee is charged each time.
How long will it take to receive it?
For in-store pickup, we will send you an email within two business days of your order being ready for pickup, and for home delivery pickup, we will aim to ship your order within two business days of confirming your payment.
However, if we receive a large number of orders, it may take an additional 1-2 business days.
(Business days are weekdays only *excluding busy periods)
Will I be able to pick it up in time for the start of classes?
As mentioned above, please allow at least 3-4 business days for your order to arrive.
Please note that not all subjects require a textbook from the first class. Sometimes
the first class will be an orientation session and no textbook will be used, so it seems that many students wait and see how things go for subjects other than those required.
Can I specify the delivery date and time?
We are sorry, but we cannot accept this at the time of ordering.
If the number of tasks you specify increases, shipping will be delayed, which will ultimately cause inconvenience to many people.
We will notify you of the parcel number once it has been shipped, so if you are unable to receive it, please specify redelivery.
Are there no textbooks in stock at the bookstore?
We will not be stocking the books on the first floor until April 26th
What to do after receiving your textbooks [Komaba]
Can I return or exchange a textbook once I have paid for it?
We will accept your request in the following cases.
Please reply to the order confirmation email from the textbook website or contact us using
the inquiry form Please let us know the reason as soon as possible.
1) If a defect that originally existed in the product is found (printing defects, binding defects, etc.)
2) If there is any damage that appears to have occurred during delivery
3) If the details and the actual item are different (different product, different quantity)
4) If you are unable to take the course due to the number of students enrolled or the lottery results
5) If a product different from the syllabus is listed on the textbook website
6) If you accidentally order multiple items of the same product (in this case, you will be responsible for the return shipping fees, etc.)
It is listed as a textbook on the syllabus, but when I actually attend class the teacher says "we won't be using the textbook"?
There have been cases in the past such as the following:
1. Mishearing
For example, make sure you are not mishearing the textbook or reference book.
2. In the 2020 academic year, when the syllabus was changed after classes began
, a designated textbook was changed to a reference book.
The Co-op may not be able to keep track of these changes.
If you are not satisfied with the change, please contact us the inquiry form we will contact the teacher in charge to confirm the facts.
