■Background to the introductionAs
previously announced , the business environment for the University of Tokyo Co-op is becoming increasingly severe due to rising operating costs and changes in the market environment. In order to continue stable operations in the future, it is essential to review our income and expenditure structure.
Furthermore, the University Co-op is an organization run by member investments and operates with the goal of providing welfare benefits to members. Based on this purpose, and in order to further clarify the significance of being a member, after repeated discussions at the board of directors, we have decided to introduce a "non-member usage fee" at purchasing stores.

■Applicable stores
When purchasing products at the following stores, a non-member usage fee (tax included) will be added according to the purchase amount.
・ Hongo area: First Purchasing Department, Second Purchasing Department, Akamon Store, Faculty of Agriculture Store, Asano Store
・ Komaba area: Komaba Purchasing Department, Komaba West Shop, Komaba Research Store
・ Affiliated Research Institute: Kashiwa Store, Medical Science Institute Store

■Products and transactions not subject to usage fees
The following products or transactions are not subject to the non-member usage fee:
・Plastic bags
・Products and services provided only to members (travel/applications for certification exams/applications for qualification schools/hakama/graduation photos/online shopping for UTokyo merchandise, etc.)
・Products and services sold at fixed price on behalf of the university or external parties (courier services/bicycle parking/gowns/security registration/consignment tickets, etc.)
・Vouchers (prepaid gift cards/stamps/revenue stamps/copy cards/book cards, etc.)
・Books (to calculate member discounts separately)
・Payments made on account receivable through your educational institution, such as school fees and research funds
