the All Japan Confederation of A-bomb Sufferers Organizations receiving the Nobel Peace Prize

I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to the Japan Confederation of A-bomb Sufferers Organizations on winning the Nobel Peace Prize

Despite experiences they would rather not remember, I would like to express my heartfelt respect for the activities of the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations, which has been sending out anti-nuclear and peace messages to the world as a witness to the meaning of the atomic bombing for humanity. The Confederation has persistently urged the government to ensure that the people will never again have to "endure" the sacrifices caused by inhumane and cruel nuclear weapons

The award recipient, Hiromi Tanaka, the representative of the Japan Confederation of A-bomb Sufferers Organizations, worked at the University of Tokyo Co-op after graduating from high school until he entered university. After entering university, he worked hard to establish the Tokyo University of Science Co-op, and is a great pioneer in the university co-op movement

In that sense, the fact that the Japan Confederation of A-bomb Sufferers Organizations has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize is a very happy event for the University of Tokyo Co-op. We reflect once again on the history of the University of Tokyo Co-op, symbolized by the publication of "Listen, Voices of the Sea," and renew our resolve to carry on activities that help people learn about, inform, think about, and discuss peace from the perspective of ordinary people into the future
