Congratulations on the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Japan Hidankyo
I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to Nippon Hidankyo on winning the Nobel Peace Prize.
I would like to express my heartfelt respect to the activities of Nippon Hidankyo, which has sent a message of anti-nuclear peace to the entire world as a witness to the meaning of the atomic bomb to humans, despite an experience they do not want to remember. Hidankyo has continued to persistently press the country to ensure that its people will never again have to endure the inhumane and cruel sacrifices caused by nuclear weapons.
Mr. Tanaka, the representative committee member of Nippon Hidankyo, who received the award, had a background in working at the University of Tokyo Co-op after graduating from high school until entering university. After entering university, he was instrumental in establishing the Tokyo University of Science Co-op, and is a senior member of the university co-op movement.
In this sense, the recent award of the Nobel Peace Prize to the Japan Hidankyo Co-op is a very happy event for the University of Tokyo Co-op. Reconsidering the past history of the University of Tokyo Co-op, symbolized by the publication of ``Listen, Wadatsumi no Voice'', we will continue to carry out activities to learn about, inform, think about, and discuss peace from the perspective of consumers toward the future. It renews my thoughts.
