Komaba/Komaba II Komaba West Shop, an unmanned store open 24 hours a day, opens on September 30th!

At the opening ceremony (September 30th),
Dean Fumitaka Mafune of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences delivered a congratulatory speech, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony by UTokyo Co-op Vice President Tatsuhiko Tsukiashi and Dean Mafune, marking the opening of the Komaba West Shop on the first floor of Buildings 15 and 16 on the Komaba Campus.
The West Shop is the first 24-hour unmanned store in the UTokyo Co-op, and its opening was intended as an operational experiment. The
Komaba West Shop was opened as a replacement facility after the closure of the bakery was unavoidable due to earthquake-resistance renovations in Building 1. Until now, there were no welfare facilities on the west side of campus, and there was a strong demand for a facility that could provide food into the evening and nighttime, especially in the area where natural science laboratories are concentrated. Operating a staffed store would be difficult, so we are experimenting with an unmanned store.
Payment at the Komaba West Shop is accepted only with Co-op electronic money. We would like to see this store grow into one that can be used 24 hours a day, not just one where you can only use co-op money.
