Comprehensive Collaboration Agreement

 The University of Tokyo Consumers' Co-operative (hereinafter referred to as "Party A") and the University of Tokyo Press (hereinafter referred to as "Party B") enter into the agreement as follows:

 Shortly after the war, Party B was established based on the University of Tokyo Cooperative Publishing Department, the predecessor of Party A, and the two parties have shared a common history. Today, as they reach the milestone of their 70th anniversary, the world situation is changing dramatically and they are being forced to reconsider the nature of their book and publishing businesses within the university. In this situation, it is expected that the further strengthening of collaboration between Party A and Party B will be significant not only as business entities, but also as a way to promote a culture in which the people who make up the intellectual community of the university learn, question, and discuss together
 Both organizations have a rich history of working with the medium of books, publishing academic articles, and engaging in peace activities, as symbolized by the publication of "Listen to the Voices of the Sea." We are confident that this agreement will enable us to further utilize, share, and enhance our respective strengths

(Purpose)
Article 1 The purpose of this Agreement is for Party A and Party B to aim for the following items through comprehensive cooperation

  • Deepen connections among members of the University of Tokyo through book publishing and sales
  • To enrich the learning experience, we will promote a culture of learning, questioning, and discussion
  • Cooperate with each other and contribute to the development of the university community

(Cooperation matters)
Article 2 Party A and Party B will cooperate and work together on the following matters:

  • Matters concerning interaction among members of the University of Tokyo through books
  • Matters relating to the development of human resources who will contribute to the promotion of book sales and publishing at the University of Tokyo, and the development of the book business
  • Matters related to projects on themes such as peace and the social conditions under which students can complete their studies
  • Matters concerning the smooth supply of textbooks and teaching materials that support the academic knowledge of the University of Tokyo
  • Matters concerning the progressive utilization of digital content

(Cooperation matters)
Article 3: The specific content of activities, business plans, division of roles, and cost burden will be decided through consultation between the departments in charge of both parties on a case-by-case basis

(Confidentiality)
Article 4 Party A and Party B will use information obtained in the course of carrying out activities under this Agreement, excluding information that is already publicly known, only for the purposes of cooperation set forth in Article 2. Such information shall not be disclosed or provided to a third party without the consent of the other party, and the same shall apply even after the termination of this Agreement

(date of expiry)
Article 5: The validity period of this Agreement shall be one year from the date of its conclusion. However, if neither Party A nor Party B expresses their intention in writing at least three months prior to the expiration of the period, the Agreement shall be renewed for another year with the same terms, and the same shall apply thereafter

Party A and Party B mutually confirm that they fully understand the contents of this Agreement, and to certify its establishment, they shall sign and affix their seals as follows. Two copies of this Agreement shall be prepared, and Party A and Party B shall each keep one copy

University of Tokyo Collaborative Research Organization Humanities Center

Comprehensive Collaboration Agreement

 The University of Tokyo Consumers' Co-op (hereinafter referred to as "Party A") and the University of Tokyo Collaborative Research Organization Humanities Center (hereinafter referred to as "Party B") enter into the agreement as follows:

Since its establishment, Party A has contributed to the spread of book culture at the University of Tokyo through sales and other activities at the Book Department. Party B has disseminated the results of its academic collaborative activities in the humanities through books such as academic research papers and booklets, and has also gained a wide range of knowledge about the history and potential of book culture through individual research projects such as the study of the history of publishing culture. By comprehensively linking their respective activities, Party A will be able to utilize Party B's knowledge to further promote activities to spread book culture, and Party B will be able to return the results of its academic collaborative activities to a wider audience through Party A. Therefore, an agreement is hereby concluded

(Purpose)
Article 1 The purpose of this Agreement is for Party A and Party B to aim for the following items through comprehensive cooperation

  • Through the provision and dissemination of academic information on book culture, we aim to deepen the understanding of book culture among the various organizations and members of the University of Tokyo and promote it
  • Through the dissemination activities of A and the academic activities of B, we aim to deepen and promote book culture
  • Contribute to the development of the university community as an academic place

(Cooperation matters)
Article 2 Party A and Party B will cooperate and work together on the following matters:

  • Matters concerning exchanges and collaboration among various organizations and members of the University of Tokyo through books
  • Matters concerning the sharing of information on academic books that will broaden interest in research activities
  • Matters concerning the utilization of book information obtained through collaboration

(Agenda matters)
